2019-2020 New Richmond 4K information

4K Program

Sonshine Learning Center

Sonshine Learning Center is a partner site with the New Richmond 4K Program!
Our class times for 2019-2020 run from 7:50 am- 11 am, then from 11:40 am - 2:50 pm Monday through Thursday (and some Fridays- please see the district 4K calendar).
*Transportation will also be offered district wide beginning in the 2018-2019 school year.*

Our class size is just thirteen children to one teacher, in a play and evidence-based classroom featuring learning areas in science, math, writing, sensory, creative expression, art, snack, blocks and building, music, dramatic play, listening, and library. Students also have the opportunity to use and manipulate iPads, interactive boards, and hand-held application technology, as well as experience many diverse in-house field trips. Our 4K and child care students have multiple opportunities to serve our New Richmond community, through programs, activities, and service projects.
*Assessments and curriculum are the same across the New Richmond School District 4K sites*
Sonshine features an 8 acre campus including nature path, a sledding/ kite flying hill, vast grassy areas, a large remodeled, accessible playground, and also features outdoor classroom environments, such as outdoor art, basketball and bike track, science, dramatic play, and music centers

Our 4K and Sonshine Learning Center teachers are trained in brain development activities through the S.M.A.R.T. curriculum program, as well as in occupational and environmental teaching strategies. Lesson plans align with the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards, the CSEFEL Pyramid Model (as a state of Wisconsin center-wide Implementation Site), the state of Wisconsin teaching standards for 4K, and the Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scales in order to provide the highest quality, research-based, academic, social, and emotional environment for your child.
Our 4K teachers continue to be Allison Firestone and Kayla Grender.
Our wrap around teacher, Kathy Gaffer, is also a licensed 4K educator; she works closely with Mrs. Hoover and Mrs. Grender to meet the educational, social, emotional, and district goals of our 4K students,
